Youth director
Position Title: Youth Director
Reports To: Church Administrator
Works Closely With: Lead Pastor Richard Duncan, Church Administrator, Children's Ministry Volunteers, Parents, Church Staff
Compensation: (Part-Time)
Part-Time: Approximately 10 hours per week
Required: Sundays (services and ministry), one evening or weekday for planning/communication, volunteer coordination, and occasional special events.
Position Summary
The Youth Director provides leadership, vision, and oversight for the Youth Ministry of Faith and Family Church. This position is responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and spiritually enriching environment where students can grow in their relationship with Christ while partnering with parents to disciple the next generation.
The Youth Director equips volunteers, maintains ministry excellence, communicates consistently, and develops opportunities for students to connect with God, one another, and the community.
Primary Responsibilities
1. Ministry Leadership
Provide leadership and oversight for all Youth Ministry activities.
Create an environment that is welcoming, safe, and engaging for every student.
Recruit, train, develop, encourage, and support youth ministry volunteers.
Ensure all classrooms are adequately staffed each Sunday.
Maintain a safe, organized, and Christ-centered ministry environment.
2. Parent Communication
Communicate with parents weekly through email, text, or app to build strong relationships and serve as a FFC resource.
Share upcoming lessons, ministry updates, special events, and important announcements.
3. Curriculum Management
Oversee the Youth Ministry curriculum.
Regularly evaluate curriculum to ensure it is biblically sound, engaging, and age appropriate.
Provide teachers with lesson materials and resources before each ministry week.
Recommend curriculum improvements as needed.
4. Volunteer Leadership
Schedule and communicate with all youth teachers and volunteers.
Ensure volunteers understand lesson objectives, classroom expectations, and church policies regarding their participation.
Conduct periodic volunteer meetings for encouragement, training, and ministry updates and also provide information during Impact Sundays.
Recognize and appreciate volunteer contributions.
5. Student Engagement
Plan activities that help students grow spiritually and build healthy relationships.
Organize age-appropriate events, outings, and service opportunities outside of the church throughout the year.
Encourage participation in church-wide events, outreach opportunities, camps, and special services.
Foster an environment where students feel welcomed, valued, and excited to invite their friends.
6. Ministry Administration
Maintain accurate weekly attendance for each classroom.
Track first-time guests and assist with follow-up.
Maintain ministry records, rosters, and classroom resources.
Monitor ministry supplies and equipment.
7. Communication with Leadership
Provide regular communication to Elder Kathy regarding:
Ministry needs
Volunteer needs
Curriculum updates
Budget requests
Student concerns requiring pastoral awareness
Upcoming events and ministry planning
Provide weekly updates to Pastor Richard and Elder Kathy including:
Total Youth Ministry attendance
Attendance by classroom or age group
Number of first-time guests
Salvations, rededications, baptisms, or significant ministry decisions
Volunteer updates
Ministry successes and challenges
8. Communication with the Church Administrator
Work closely with the Church Administrator to ensure the Youth Ministry is supported administratively.
Responsibilities include:
Communicate all ministry needs in a timely manner.
Submit requests for supplies, curriculum, equipment, and purchases.
Coordinate classroom, facility, and room scheduling needs.
Submit requests for ministry events, church calendar additions, and promotional materials.
Communicate volunteer training dates and special event needs.
Notify the Church Administrator of maintenance, safety, or facility concerns.
Work collaboratively to ensure ministry needs are planned for and executed with excellence.
9. Ministry Planning
Develop an annual Youth Ministry calendar in collaboration with church leadership.
Plan quarterly youth events and outreach opportunities.
Assist with Vacation Bible School (future), family events, and other church-wide initiatives as requested.
Qualifications
A growing and mature relationship with Jesus Christ.
Agreement with the vision, mission, and beliefs of Faith and Family Church.
Passion for discipling children and youth.
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to lead and encourage volunteers.
Ability to work collaboratively with parents, staff, and ministry leaders.
Reliable, organized, and self-motivated.
